
Lance McCullers Jr. Tosses 4 Innings as Skeeters Beat Round Rock

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. tossed four innings in a Major League Rehab Assignment start Thursday night as the Sugar Land Skeeters defeated the Round Rock Express 2-1 at Constellation Field.
McCullers Jr., who has not appeared in a game since being placed on the 10-Day IL on May 23 with right shoulder soreness, allowed a run on two hits and struck out four through four innings in front of a near-sellout crowd. He has gone 3-1 with a 2.96 ERA in nine starts with the Astros this season.
Bryan De La Cruz gave the Skeeters the lead in the eighth inning with an RBI single. De La Cruz also tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning on a solo home run to right-center. It was his fourth home run of the season and traveled an estimated 427 feet.
Kit Scheetz tossed a scoreless frame directly following McCullers Jr. and Chad Donato threw four scoreless innings and struck out five batters in relief of Scheetz to collect the winning decision.
The announced attendance of 6,760 fans was the largest for a Skeeters game in 2021.
