Travis Hake singled home Kevin Wilson in the top of the 12th inning as the Lancaster Barnstormers survived squandering a 5-0 lead and defeated the Long Island Ducks, 6-5, at Citibank Park Tuesday evening.

The win, combined with a 2-1 Atlantic City loss at Bridgeport, gives the Barnstormers a 3 ? game lead in the Southern Division race. Somerset stayed five back with a 4-2 win over the Newark Bears.

In the top of the 12th, Wilson grounded a one-out single off Todd Erdos (3-3) through the right side of the infield. Quincy Foster worked the count to 3-2, and the Barnstormers decided to start the runner, a move that paid off as Foster grounded to third for the second out, advancing Wilson to second. Hake then blooped a single to right, his fourth hit of the game. Juan Gonzalez had an opportunity for a play at the plate on Wilson but overthrew Greg Connors allowing the deciding run to score.

Jose Ortiz gave the Barnstormers a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the third. Chris Van Rossum, Jutt Hileman and Manny Santana stroked consecutive RBI singles in the fifth inning, and Reggie Taylor produced the Barnstormers? fifth run of the night with a run-scoring single to right one inning later.

Scott Sobkowiak faced one batter over the minimum through the first seven innings, then had his night fall to pieces quickly in the eighth. Gonzalez led off the inning with a long double to left after falling behind in the count. Dominick Ambrosini slugged the next pitch out of the park, cutting the Lancaster lead to 5-2. Tony Schrager continued the extra-base hit barrage with a homer to right center, and Sobkowiak was removed after Elvis Pena reached on an error.

Matt Knox got the first out of the inning when Connors flied to right, but Mel Stocker followed with a double to right, moving the tying runs into scoring position. One out later, Erick Almonte singled to center to forge the 5-5 tie.

Knox went on to strike out the side in the ninth inning. Scott Patterson (2-0) fired two scoreless innings, and Charlie Weatherby earned his second save, retiring the side in order in the bottom of the 12th.
