
Former Tiger Tolar signs with Long Island

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 13, 2006) - The Long Island Ducks, members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, today announced that they have signed former Major League left handed pitcher Kevin Tolar to a contract for the 2006 season.
"It is great to add a lefty like Tolar to our pitching staff," says Ducks manager Don McCormack. "He has a wealth of experience and has had success throughout his career. He should do well for us."
The Panama City, Fla. native began the 2006 season with Saltillo of the Mexican League (AAA). In 11 relief appearances in Mexico, he posted a 1-0 mark with nine strikeouts in 12 innings of work. Tolar has seen action in 20 games at the Major League level with the Tigers and Red Sox, fanning 17 in 17.2 innings. He enjoyed his finest season in 2002 with Nashville (AAA, Pirates) of the Pacific Coast League, posting a 2.54 ERA with a 6-1 record and 82 strikeouts in 44 games (seven starts). The 35-year old owns a career record of 69-53 in 613 minor league games (84 starts) with a 3.48 ERA. He was originally selected by the Chicago White Sox in the ninth round of the 1989 draft.
The Long Island Ducks are in their seventh season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
