Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - It took 4 hours and 20 minutes, but the Lakewood BlueClaws walked off winners over the West Virginia Power in the bottom of the 15th inning 4-3 on Saturday night. It was a wacky ballgame, but Lakewood came out on top in the end to snap their 8 game losing streak and avoid being swept for the second straight series.

RHP Lisalberto Bonilla made his first start of the year for Lakewood and he pitched very well. His final line was 5 IP, 3 hits, O runs, 2 walks, and 2 K's. Lendy Castillo made his Blueclaws debut going 5 innings out of the bullpen, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, and striking out 4. Chase Johnson got the win after pitching a perfect top half of the 15th.

Jim Murphy came through big for Lakewood twice in extra innings tying it with an RBI single in the 13th and winning it with an RBI single in the 15th. The game winning play was a tricky one as the West Virginia Outfield was playing very deep in their no doubles defense, and Murphy hit what would usually be an easy catch for the RF. With the OF's playing so deep, and Zach Collier running on contact he was able to score from 1B after the ball bounced away from the RF Dan Grovatt. Collier finished 3-6, and Murphy finished 3-7 as they were the only 2 BlueClaws to finish the game with more than 1 hit.

Lakewood will welcome in the Hagerstown Suns beginning on Sunday for a 4 game series. RHP David Buchanan (7-3, 2.68 ERA) will start for the BlueClaws and LHP Robbie Ray (2-0, 0.30) will throw for the Suns. First Pitch is scheduled for 4:05 on Sunday.
