LEXINGTON, KY - The Hickory Crawdads two-hit the Lexington Legends en route to the 8-1 win before 6,711 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington on Saturday evening.

The Legends (29-33) got out to a powerful start, as DH Delino DeShields, Jr. led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run against RHP Luke Jackson (W, 1-0), putting the Legends ahead, 1-0.

Jackson responded by surrendering only one other hit throughout his five-inning start, while striking out six. RHP Joe Van Meter and RHP Nick McBride both logged two scoreless, hitless innings in relief, subduing the Lexington offense in the two-hit performance.

Meanwhile, the Crawdads (34-27) erased the narrow deficit and moved in front with a two-out rally in the top of the third against RHP Tanner Bushue (L, 6-2). With two away and the bases empty, CF Teodoro Martinez walked to keep the inning going. SS Jurickson Profar then hammered the first pitch to right field for an RBI double, taking third base on the throw home that was not in time to get Martinez. CF Jake Skole followed with an RBI single, before an RBI base hit from LF Alejandro Selen later in the frame, putting the 'Dads in the 3-1 lead.

Hickory blew the game open with four more runs in the top of the fifth inning. RHP Juan Minaya walked the first three batters he faced to start the frame, before giving way to LHP Gabriel Garcia. A wild pitch brought in Skole to make it 4-1, while Garcia attempted to get out of the frame with no further damage done retiring the next two batter in order. However, C Kellin Deglan extended the inning with a two-out walk to reload the bases, and LF Jonathan Roof quickly unloaded the bases with a three-run double off the left-field wall, giving the Crawdads the 7-1 lead.

The 'Dads added one more insurance tally on an RBI single by Deglan in the seventh, accounting for the 8-1 final score in the Crawdads win.
