Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Greenville Drive 6-5 Saturday night in front of 4,007 fans at State Mutual Stadium. Tonight's game concluded the short three game home stand as Rome begins a four game series in Savannah tomorrow.

The Drive would get on the board first in the top of the second after David Renfroe tripled and scored on a single by Xander Bogaerts to take the 1-0 lead. Rome would answer with three runs in the bottom of the fourth as Robert Hefflinger and Evan Gattis each had RBI doubles and Kyle Rose contributed with an RBI single giving the Braves a 3-1 advantage.

Rome would add to their lead in the bottom of the fifth thanks to RBI singles by Edward Salcedo and Hefflinger making the score 5-1. The Drive would scrape at Rome's lead in the top of the sixth on a Miles Head RBI single cutting the score to 5-2. Rome would later get the run back in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI double by Chris Garcia giving the Braves a 6-2 lead. Greenville would make one last effort in the top of the eighth by pushing across three runs but the late rally would not be enough as Rome's bullpen would shut the door to give the Braves a 6-5 victory.

Gary Moran (1-0) earns the win for Rome and Manuel Rivera (4-3) takes the loss for Greenville while Tyler Hess (6) picks up the save

The Braves hit the road for four games before returning to State Mutual Stadium on Thursday June 16th to take on the Lexington Legends. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
