TROY, N.Y.-The Tri-City ValleyCats were defeated 7-4 by the Vermont Lake Monsters on Sunday night in front of a sell-out crowd of 5,031. Lake Monsters' third baseman Steve Souza led the way with a three-run, bases clearing double in the seventh inning to give Vermont the lead.

The Lake Monsters jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the ValleyCats struck back to tie the game in the fourth inning. Shortstop Ronald Ramirez scored on a triple to centerfield by first baseman Phil Disher, the slugging first baseman's third of the season. In the seventh inning, Vermont took the lead as they tacked on five runs. The scoring flurry was headlined by Souza's three-run double. The ‘Cats attempted to claw back in the bottom of the ninth inning with two runs, but the rally was halted at 7-4.

The sell-out crowd of 5,031 was the ninth ValleyCats sell-out at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium this season. The ValleyCats trail the franchise's all-time attendance record by just 417 fans with two home games remaining.

The ValleyCats hit the road for four games, two games in Lowell followed by two games in Vermont. Tri-City will return home on Friday night at 7 p.m. to take on the Lowell Spinners. Friday evening is College Night at "The Joe" meaning all college students who present a valid college ID will be admitted FREE! Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Joseph L.
