Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The Williamsport Crosscutters brought out the brooms as they swept the Mahoning Valley Scrappers with a 5-1 win Sunday night at Historic Bowman Field.
Crosscutter pitcher Kyle Drabek, showed why the Phillies made him their first round pick in the 2006 Draft as he dominated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers lineup. Drabek, son of former Cy Young winner Doug Drabek, tossed six innings of one hit baseball to capture his first win of the season. Relief pitcher Michael Schwimer picked up his seventh save of the season as he tossed the final 2 1/3 innings.
OF Arlon Quiroz extended his hitting streak to eight games, as he went 1-4 with a single, stolen base, and run scored. IF's Cody Overbeck and Daniel Hargrave each collected two hits and OF Brandon Haislet drove in two.
The Cutters (35-33) take on the division leading Jamestown Jammers (43-27) Monday in a Labor Day 1:05 start as they remain mathematically eligible for playoff contention. The game can be heard on ESPN 1050AM and 104.1FM and at www.crosscutters.com.
