August 2, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
LOS ANGELES - LAFC will host the 2023 Campeones Cup at BMO Stadium, an annual battle between the reigning MLS and LIGA MX Champions. LAFC will take on Tigres UANL on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at BMO Stadium at 8:00 p.m. PT. The match will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
2023 LAFC Season Ticket Members receive priority access to purchase tickets for the historic match. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, August 3 at 9 a.m. PT at lafc.com/tickets.
The fifth edition of the Campeones Cup will be a re-match of the 2020 Concacaf Champions League Final, where Tigres defeated LAFC 2-1.
LAFC qualified for the Campeones Cup with a scintillating victory in the 2022 MLS Cup over Philadelphia, while Tigres defeated Pachuca 2-1 in the Campeón de Campeones toearn its spot. Tigres won the inaugural Campeones Cup in 2018 and is the only team from both MLS or LIGA MX to appear in two Cups. MLS has won the last three Campeones Cup match-ups and owns a 3-1 record.
In addition to winning MLS Cup, LAFC also won the 2022 Supporters' Shield and advanced to the 2023 Concacaf Champions League Final in June where they were defeated by LIGA MX's Club Leon.
Overall, LAFC is 3-4-0 (W-L-T) in Concacaf Champions League matches vs. teams from LIGA MX in its history.
