LAFC to Face Seattle Sounders FC in Round One of the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs on Tuesday, November 24
November 9, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Major League Soccer today announced the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs schedule and broadcast details for the Eastern Conference Play-In games and Round One matches, including LAFC's matchup against the reigning MLS Cup Champions Seattle Sounders FC.
The rematch of the 2019 Western Conference Final will take place at CenturyLink Field on Tuesday, November 24 at 7:30 p.m. PT (ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN LA 710 AM, KFWB 980 AM).
LAFC finished the regular season in 7th place in the Western Conference standings with a 9-8-5 record (32 pts; 1.45 PPG). The Round One matchup will mark the fifth meeting of the year between the two sides, with each club winning two games.
LAFC won the first contest of the year - a 4-1 victory in the Round of 16 of the MLS is Back Tournament on July 27. Seattle would then earn a pair of home wins following the restart of the regular season in local markets, downing the Black & Gold 3-1 on August 30 and 3-0 on September 18. Less than a month later, LAFC would earn all three points in the last installment of the series, defeating the Sounders 3-1 on October 11.
Last season, LAFC earned four points from the two regular season contests against Seattle, but eventually fell a game short of reaching MLS Cup after a 3-1 loss to the Sounders in the Western Conference Final on October 29 at Banc of California Stadium.
In 2018, LAFC earned two historic 1-0 victories against Seattle, winning the Club's inaugural game on March 4 and the first-ever game at Banc of California Stadium on April 29. In all, LAFC leads the all-time series with a 5-3-1 record across all competitions, including a 4-2-1 record in MLS play.
