Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) saw its five-game home unbeaten streak come to an end with a 4-1 loss to Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night at Banc of California Stadium. Danny Musovski scored the only goal of the game for LAFC, who fell at home for the first time since May 29. LAFC remains in fifth place in the Western Conference with a 6-6-5 record for 23 points on the season.
Each team had chances in the game's opening minutes, but it was Sporting who took the lead in the 20th minute. LAFC goalkeeper Tomas Romero collided with a Kansas City player at the edge of the penalty area, and the ball fell to Alan Pulido, who passed it into the net to make the score 1-0 for Sporting Kansas City.
The visitors doubled their lead eight minutes later when Luis Martins volleyed home a Daniel Salloi pass, making the score 2-0.
Salloi scored with a volley of his own in the 36th minute, finishing a pass from Graham Zusi to send his team into the halftime break with a 3-0 advantage.
The score was 4-0 just before the hour mark when a Zusi cross was headed past Romero by Gadi Kinda.
Musovski pulled a goal back for LAFC in the 82nd minute when he raced onto a Diego Palacios through ball and slotted a low shot past Sporting goalkeeper Tim Melia for his first goal of the season, making the score 4-1.
LAFC returns to action on Sunday, August 8 when it travels north to take on the San Jose Earhquakes at PayPal Park. That game kicks off at 4 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live locally on My 13 KCOP and Estrella TV.
