August 31, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) finishes its three-game homestand on Sunday, September 1 as the Club hosts Minnesota United FC at Banc of California Stadium. Tomorrow's contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on YouTube TV, Univision KVMD, ESPN 710 AM, and 980 AM "La Mera Mera'.
With a win against the Loons, LAFC will secure first place in the Western Conference and a first-round bye in the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs. The Black & Gold will also clinch the top spot in the West with a draw, a draw or loss by Real Salt Lake against Portland Timbers, and a draw between Seattle Sounders and Galaxy.
LAFC and Minnesota will meet twice this month, with the two sides also facing off on September 29 at Allianz Field. Last year, the two Western Conference teams split the season series, with each side winning on home soil. LAFC earned a 2-0 victory on May 9 in Los Angeles, before dropping a 5-1 contest on July 22 in Minnesota.
Last week, LAFC (19-3-5; 62 points) secured four points against the other two California clubs, extending its home unbeaten streak to 13 games in 2019. The Black & Gold defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 4-0 on Wednesday night, before splitting a 3-3 contest with the Galaxy on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, Minnesota (12-9-6; 42 points) are coming off a 2-1 defeat in the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final against Atlanta United on Tuesday night. On the road, the team is 4-8-1, with its last victory taking place on July 6 at Montreal Impact.
