LAFC Falls 3-0 to Real Salt Lake Wednesday Night at Rio Tinto Stadium
September 10, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) fell to Western Conference opponent Real Salt Lake 3-0, Wednesday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.
After a record setting 2019 that saw LAFC lose only four games in the entire season, the Black & Gold have now dropped four of their last five matches for the first time in Club history.
LAFC started a revamped lineup that featured six players 22-years or younger, but Real Salt Lake opened the scoring in the 9th minute off a Damir Kreilach goal that set off a frenzied first half from both sides. The second half continued to go Real Salt Lake's way, with Justin Meram scoring the club's second goal of the night in the 47th minute and Albert Rusnak putting the finishing touches on the match with a penalty kick in the 79th minute.
LAFC now continues to sit in playoff position in 8th place in the Western Conference with a 3-4-3 record (12 points). Next up for the Black & Gold is the Portland Timbers on Sunday, September 13 at 8:00 p.m. PT at Banc of California Stadium (YouTube TV, Estrella TV, ESPN LA 710, ESPN App, 980 AM).
