LAFC, adidas Originals Release Two Limited Edition Sambas for Second Consecutive Year
November 9, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and adidas Originals today announced a continuation of its tradition of collaboration, honoring L.A. with the release of two limited-edition sneakers for the second consecutive year: The #LAFCSamba 2.0 and the "Friends + Family" Samba. The "Friends + Family" Samba will be available exclusively on Wednesday, Nov. 10 and the #LAFCSamba 2.0 will be available on Saturday, Nov. 13.
For the second edition of the collaboration, adidas released the #LAFCSamba 2.0 to celebrate the spirit of the club on one of adidas' most iconic silhouettes. Based on the team's secondary Heart of Gold kit, the #LAFCSamba 2.0 features soft linen, off-white tones and subtle gold accents - a nod to the community's resilience, conductivity and warmth. The limited edition #LAFCSamba 2.0 will be available starting Nov. 13 at adidas.com, in-store at WSS, lafcmobileshop.com, and other local adidas retailers.
On Wednesday, Nov. 10 the "Friends + Family" style will be released in limited quantities and exclusively at FootyCon on the NTWRK app. The design of the LAFC "Friends + Family" Samba mirrors the triple black look of the 2020-2021 LAFC home jersey.
The final piece of the 2021 LAFC and adidas Originals collection is a one-of-a-kind Samba, hand made by sneaker customizers Factory8384. Using pieces of the Club's authentic secondary jersey, the shoe celebrates the on-field accomplishments of one of MLS' 2021 break-out stars - LAFC striker Cristian Arango. This unique creation will be made available to one adidas Creators Club winner. Fans can enter to win these rare sneakers from Nov. 15 - 18 at adidas Creators Club; a winner will be announced on Nov. 19.
LAFC made history in 2020, becoming the first-ever MLS club to collaborate with adidas Originals on a co-branded Samba. The original #StreetByStreet Samba sold out in seven minutes. An early adopter of LAFC, adidas joined the Club as a marketing partner in 2018. The brands have worked together to design each of the Club's kits since LAFC's inaugural season.
