November 9, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York City FC News Release
New York City FC can confirm four players have been selected to represent their country in November.
Defenders Alex Callens, Maxime Chanot, Gudi Thórarinsson, and goalkeeper Sean Johnson will be jetting off to join their respective national teams ahead of World Cup Qualifiers.
Here's everything you need to know.
Alex Callens
The towering defender remains a fixture of Ricardo Gareca's side in 2021, and to date has earned 24 caps for his country. This month will see Peru start at home as they take on Bolivia before a trip to Venezuela four days later.
Callens and his teammates will be aiming for six points and keep their hopes of World Cup qualification alive.

Maxime Chanot
Luxembourg already know they will not be part of the World Cup next year, but the Red Lions do still have pride to play for as they round out their qualification campaign.
Chanot will be traveling to Azerbaijan for his country's first game, before returning to home soil for a visit from the Republic of Ireland.

Sean Johnson
Johnson has been a steady and dependable option for Gregg Berhalter and the United States Men's National Team. Working alongside Zack Steffen and Matt Turner, the shot-stopper will be aiming to add to nine caps this month.
The USMNT are in a strong position in their qualifying group, and currently sit in second on eleven points. This month will see them take on two significant challenges in the form of two difficult road games against Mexico and Jamaica.

Gudi Thórarinsson
The NYCFC defender has enjoyed a return to the national team fold in 2021, and will be hoping for a big finish with Iceland this month.
Thórarinsson and his teammates require a combination of two wins and favorable results elsewhere to keep their chance of a World Cup place alive. They start that journey in Romania, before a trip to North Macedonia three days later.
