IDAHO FALLS, ID - An all-around attack paced the Missoula Osprey (22-20) over the Idaho Falls Chukars (21-20), 10-4, at Melaleuca Field on Monday night. Osprey pitcher Dustin Lacaze (W, 2-0) struck out nine batters, a season high, in 4.2 innings of work.
Eight of nine Osprey batters had multi-hit nights, including Francis Martinez's 4-5 night. Osprey catcher Axel Andueza knocked his first professional homer of his career, finishing 2-5 with 3 RBI.
The Osprey offense finished with 19 combined hits, a new season-high. Chukars' left-hander Anthony Veneziano (L, 1-2) allowed eight earned of the Osprey runs, giving up 12 hits in 4.1 innings.
CF Dominic Canzone ended his night 3-5, all doubles, and scoring all three times. SS Liover Peguero and 2B Cam Coursey both finished 2-5, and both driving in a run.
Behind Lacaze's nine strikeouts, the Missoula staff combined for 13 total, only giving up two walks.
The O's finished the night 9-19 with runners in scoring position, rivaling the Chukars' 1-9.
A three-game road series in Idaho Falls to end the month continues Tuesday night, first pitch at 7:15 at Melaleuca Field. Missoula returns to Ogren Park at Allegiance Field on August 1 vs Great Falls for Stadium Happy Hour. Gates open at 6, with $2 Mystery Beer and $3 micro brews until first pitch.
