
LA Galaxy Sign Midfielder Emil Cuello

LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy have signed midfielder Emil Cuello, the club announced today. Cuello, 22, was selected by the Galaxy with the 19th overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft from Southern Methodist University.
"We are excited to welcome Emil to the LA Galaxy," said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. "He has played well during our preseason, showing his abilities and technicality. We look forward to Emil officially joining our roster and his contributions during the upcoming season."
Cuello joins the Galaxy after spending four years at Southern Methodist University, where he accumulated 72 appearances, 12 goals and 17 assists. During his final season with SMU, Cuello made 18 appearances and recorded five goals and seven assists.
In his freshman year at SMU, Cuello was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team. His junior year, American Athletic Conference named Cuello Most Outstanding Offensive Player. His senior year, he was recognized as American Athletic Conference Tournament's Most Valuable Player and First Team All-American Athletic Conference.
