LA Galaxy News Release
LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy today announced that the club has acquired $100,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $100,000 in 2025 GAM from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for forward Preston Judd. Additionally, the Galaxy can receive $50,000 in conditional 2025 GAM if certain performance metrics are met by Judd with San Jose during the 2024 campaign.
"We would like to thank Preston for being a consummate professional and excelling in front of goal from the day he was selected in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft," said LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz. "Goal scorers will always be in demand in this game and Preston's 33 goals in 75 games with our club meant it was only a matter of time before another team came to write the next chapter in his journey. We wish him all the best in this next step in his career."
Judd, 25, logged three goals and two assists in 18 career matches played (7 starts) across all competitions in one season played for the LA Galaxy (2023). The forward equaled a club record 30 goals and added six assists in 57 career regular-season games played (42 starts) across two seasons played for LA Galaxy II (2021-22) in USL Championship play. Notably, Judd was a two-time LA Galaxy II Player of the Year (2021, 2022) after recording 17 goals and three assists in 32 matches played during the 2021 USL Championship campaign and notching 13 goals and four assists in 25 matches played during the 2022 campaign for Los Dos.
Additionally, the Las Vegas, Nev., native was selected by the LA Galaxy in the second round (No. 35 overall) of the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
Transaction: LA Galaxy acquire $100,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $100,000 in 2025 GAM from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for forward Preston Judd on Dec. 14, 2023.
