FC Cincinnati News Release

On December 7, FC Cincinnati and the FC Cincinnati Foundation unveiled its 10th mini pitch in the Cincinnati region, beating a goal set in 2019 by over a full year. Located at Lunken Playfield, the mini pitch was opened thanks to a partnership with Cincinnati Recreation Commission, Carl and Martha Lindner, and the Motz Group.

To celebrate the opening of the pitch, FC Cincinnati star and Cincy native Nick Hagglund was on hand to formally open play on the field with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Hagglund was joined by youth from several Cincinnati communities for games on the field with opportunities to meet their hero. FC Cincinnati Club Ambassadors Omar Cummings and Corben Bone were also on hand.

Each mini pitch offers scheduled programming through the FCC Foundation's Soccer Unites program. In 2023, over 824 hours of programming was provided with over 8,628 children being affected in the greater Cincinnati area.

""When FC Cincinnati Foundation launched in 2019, we pledged to open 10 mini pitches by 2024 and we are excited to reach that goal one year early," announced Kate Solomon, Senior Vice President of Fan and Community Relations, and Executive Director of the FC Cincinnati Foundation. "Mini pitches are a critical part of our effort to provide access to soccer to all children across the community and today we pledge to build 10 additional mini pitches in the future."

Mini pitches continue to be a key focus for FC Cincinnati and the FC Cincinnati Foundation as the club and foundation continue to work to better the lives of children in our neighborhoods through soccer. Broadly, the FC Cincinnati Foundation reaches over 30,000 children in the Greater Cincinnati area each year. Programming is focused on access to soccer, education and character development.

Other mini pitches are located at: West End Lincoln Rec Center, Bond Hill Community Center, Hartwell Rec Center, North Avondale Rec Center, Price Hill Rec Center, Madisonville Rec Center, Douglass Park in Middletown, Austinburg Park in Covington and Common Ground all-accessible park in Mason.
