
La Bruna's First Career Home Runs Puts Suns over Shorebirds

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns (49-29) win the series opener against the Delmarva Shorebirds (45-32) 3-2 with La Bruna'a walk-off home run in the tenth inning.
The Shorebirds held the Suns to five hits in Thursday night's ten-inning game. In the top of the third inning, Yermin Mercedes scored on a double by Alex Murphy to put the Shorebirds up 1-0.
In the bottom of the third inning, Edwin Lora scored on a single by Randy Encarnacion to tie the game.
Cedric Mullins hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning, after five scoreless innings, to give the Shorebirds the 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the inning.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Austin Davidson doubled and Cody Dent, Davidson's pinch runner, stole third base on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice-fly by Rhett Wiseman.
The Suns held the Shorebirds in the top of the tenth inning and La Bruna's solo home run gave them the win.
Winning pitcher, Mick VanVossen, allowed two hits and one earned run through two innings.
Hagerstown's James Bourque (0-3, 7.56) will face Delmarva's Michael Costello (0-0, 1.88) in the second game of the four game set on Friday at Municipal Stadium. First pitch it scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
