L-Kings Come From Behind For Victory
September 4, 2005 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Clinton LumberKings News Release
Clinton had ducks on the pond when a Burlington wild pitch followed by a throwing error allowed two runs to cross the plate in the eighth, giving the L-Kings a victory.
Emerson Frostad (.272 / .348 / .454), who finished 2-4, led off the eighth with a double and came around to score the tying run on a wild pitch and Andrew Wishy, who had walked, scored the game winner.
Former Florida State star Marc Lamacchia (4-2; 3.73) dealt 2.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory. He surrendered two runs and fanned three without issuing a freebie.
John Bannister (4.58) went the first six, allowing four runs, three earned, on nine hits and no walks, striking out seven. Johnny Lujan earned his fifth save of the year, but surrendered a hit and a walk before recording the final out of the game.
Catcher Craig Hurba (.306 / .366 / .458) went 3-4 with a double to drive in one and Brandon Cashman went 2-3.
Clinton, who secured a playoff spot by winning the MWL West wild card in the first half of the season, finishes the regular season with games today and tomorrow afternoon in Burlington.
