
Kyle Porter and Nana Attakora Get Called up to Canada Men's National Team Camp

Washington, D.C. (January 10, 2014) - D.C. United today announced midfielder Kyle Porter and defender Nana Attakora have been called up to Canada Men's National team camp, which will be held Jan. 12-22 in Sunrise, Fla.
Porter, who first played with the U-17 Canada National Team, was most recently called up for a pair of friendlies against Czech Republic on Nov. 11 and Slovenia on Nov. 19. The midfielder came off the bench and went 42 minutes in a 2-0 loss against Czech Republic before starting and going 45 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Slovenia.
On February 28, Porter was acquired from Vancouver Whitecaps FC for a second round pick in the 2014 Supplemental Draft. In his first season with the Black-and-Red, the midfielder played in 27 games (18 starts), tied for a team-high in goals scored (3) and also recorded one assist.
Attakora has represented Canada at U-16, U-17, U-19, U-20, U-23 and at the senior national team level. Named the Canadian U-20 Player of the year in 2008 and 2009, the defender was most recently a member of the Men's National Team for the friendlies against Slovenia on Nov. 11 and Czech Republic on Nov. 19. The defender came off the bench and played 17 minutes in the 2-0 loss to Czech Republic and played the second half of the 1-0 loss to Slovenia.
Attakora was selected by the Black-and-Red in the 2nd round of the 2013 MLS Re-Entry Draft and was signed on Jan. 8, 2014. The young defender has played in MLS for seven seasons, most recently with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2013. Over this career, he has appeared in 70 games (62 starts) and recorded three goals and five assists.
