Central Islip, N.Y. - The Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the Long Island Ducks 5-3 on Saturday night in front of a past-capacity crowd of 7,018 at Suffolk County Sports Park.

Lancaster cracked the scoreboard in the opening frame on a two-out two-run double to right field by Reggie Taylor, putting the Barnstormers ahead 2-0.

The Ducks responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first to swipe the lead. Joey Gathright scored on a balk, Robinson Cancel hit a sacrifice fly to right, and Javier Colina launched a solo homer to left, leapfrogging the Ducks in front 3-2.

The lead lasted until the seventh when Jason Perry's three-run homer to right-center off Ducks' reliever Adrian Martin gave the ‘Stormers a 5-3 advantage.

Sean Thompson (2-7) picked up the victory, tossing three and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and two walks, with three strikeouts. Martin (0-1) absorbed the loss, allowing three runs on two hits in two innings. Tim Hamulack pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his seventh save.

Long Island wraps up their three-game set with the Barnstormers on Sunday. Game time is set for 5:05 PM, with the Suffolk County Sports Park gates opening at 4:05. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive 2010 Team Card Sets, presented by Nicolock. Fans will also be invited onto the field prior to the game to meet the 2010 Long Island Ducks, as well as after the game for Kids Run the Bases, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Jake Dittler will take the mound for the Ducks. Fans can tune into all the action live via streaming webcast at www.liducks.com with Casey Lynn calling the play-by-play.
