Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

Bridgeport, Conn. - The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Camden Riversharks 7-2 Saturday night in front of a crowd of 4,226 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Camden's Brian Burgamy put a run on the board in the second inning with a solo shot to left center field, giving the Riversharks an early lead.

The Riversharks did not hold onto the advantage for long, however, as Bridgeport answered back in the bottom half of the second to take control. Luis Lopez began the frame with a single to the gap in left, and Colin Roberson picked up a base hit to move Lopez to third. Lopez marked the first Bluefish run on a groundout hit to the shortstop by Hiram Bocachica. Roberson reached third safely on a stolen base and tagged-up on a sacrifice fly hit by Tom Pennino to improve the score 2-1.

A combination of Garrett Guzman and Vito Chiaravallotti produced Camden's second and final run of the game. Guzman led the seventh inning off with a single to right field, and Chiaravallotti drove a double to the warning track to score Chiaravallotti from first.

Bridgeport added four runs in the bottom of the seventh to extend the lead to 7-2. The rally began when Camden's second baseman misplayed a fly ball hit by Roberson, allowing him to reach second base, and Bocachica followed with a walk. Tom Pennino reached first on a fielder's choice, and with one away Tim Johnson walked to load the bases. Adam Greenberg picked up the third walk of the inning, forcing Bocachica to score, and Danny Putnam sent a sacrifice fly to right field, letting Pennino tag up and score from third. Tike Redman brought in Johnson and Greenberg, the final two runs of the inning, on a double to right field.

Dan Serafini (3-1) earned the win for the ‘Fish, giving up two runs on five hits, while walking two and sitting down 10 Camden batters.

Camden's Gabriel Alfaro (2-4) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits. The righty walked three and struck out one.
