Long Island Ducks News Release
Central Islip, NY - At Friday night's game between the Long Island Ducks and the Lancaster Barnstormers, Jack Henry was recognized as the fourth "Empire Angel" of the 2010 season. He received a plaque, hat, t-shirt, and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Henry is 64 years old, lives in Melville, and is currently employed by the Long Island Railroad. As an active member and Chairman of the Veterans Committee of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Patricks Division, in Babylon, Jack became interested in the Wounded Warriors Project. This program is a grassroots organization that raises funds for the benefit of wounded veterans. Jack started to build monthly donations for this project, and over 3 years, he has donated more than $4,300 in the name of his division. As a veteran, Jack Henry is proud to donate back to the community, making him a perfect choice as the Empire Angel on Military Appreciation Night.
The Long Island Ducks have teamed up with Empire BlueCross BlueShield to present the "Empire Angels" program. This program has been designed to recognize those who give back to their community and are selfless in helping others. Those selected as the "Empire Angel" will receive four tickets to the game, be recognized during a pre-game on-field ceremony, and throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Empire BlueCross BlueShield and the Ducks will honor their final "Empire Angel" at the Ducks' home game on Labor Day, Monday, September 6th, when they battle the Bridgeport Bluefish at 6:35 P.M.
The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Suffolk County Sports Park and are in their 11th season of play. Individual game tickets for the Ducks 2010 season are on sale now.
