NAHL Aberdeen Wings

Krieger's PP Goal Leads Wings Past Bruins

March 2, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release

Peter Krieger's power play goal early in the 2nd period along with Zach Nagelvoort's 36 saves proved to be to much for the Austin Bruins Friday night in Austin.  The Wings and Bruins were stuck in a defensive battle throughout the game.  The two starting goaltenders combined to make 55 saves on the 56 shots they faced.  The big difference proved to be Aberdeen's ability to go 1-4 on the power play while holding the NAHL's leading power play to an 0-3 performance.  Peter Krieger was able to light the lamp on a power play that started at the end of the 1st period and carried over into the 2nd.  just 16 seconds into the period Jordan Heller was able to find a streaking Krieger behind the Bruins defense, and Krieger was able to take care of the rest beating Pawloski high glove side.  Team defense was the key to the victory as The Wings were able to block a number of shots keeping the puck out of the middle of the ice and away from the goal.  Aberdeen will once again look to slow down the explosive offence of the Bruins when they close out the season series with Austin tonight from Riverside arena.  The pregame starts at 6:35 on 107.7 or at fasthockey.com!  Puck drop is at 7:05!
