Amarillo Bulls News Release

ODESSA, TX - The Amarillo Bulls continued their dominating play over the Odessa Jackalopes at Ector County Coliseum on Friday night.

Three goals in the last half of the first period powered the Bulls to their 20th consecutive win over Odessa, this time a 6-1 triumph. The lone blemish the Bulls have against the Jackalopes came in last year's NAHL playoffs.

The victory was Amarillo's 38th of the season and it pushed the club 12 ahead of the Topeka RoadRunners for first place in the South Division.

"I think our guys tonight created about 39 Grade A scoring opportunities tonight," said Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams. "We just have to burry pucks. I told the guys the hardest thing for us is to be true to ourselves and play well to get the sweep tomorrow which is what we came here to do."

It was a slow start to the game for the Bulls but found their stride in the final eight minutes scoring three times. Clint Carlisle tallied the Bulls ninth shorthanded goal of the season when he tipped home a shot from Matt Sieckhaus at 12:18. The Bulls would then score two-goals, 21 seconds apart. John Rey converted a pass from Mike Davis at 17:29 and then Tyler Deresky scored from John Rey. The Bulls outshot the Jackalopes 11-4 in the first period.

The Bulls raced out to a 4-0 advantage early in the second period when Gage Christianson pushed across a rebound in front of the net on the power play from Connor Frey and Geoff Fortman. The Jackalopes cut into the Bulls lead with a goal near the end of the stanza. Amarillo outshot Odessa 11-7.

The power play came alive for the Bulls in the first 6:09 of the final stanza. Mike Davis tipped home a shot from Garrett Peterson and Brady Ferguson. Nearly two minutes later, Tyler Deresky got his second from Clint Carlisle and Peterson.

Paul Berrafato registered the win in goal. His counterpart Nick Deery played well and made some big saves or the game couldn't have gotten badly out of hand and a much higher score.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Odessa Jackalopes 32-15 including 10-4 over the final period. Amarillo went 3 for 5 on the power play, while Odessa was 0 for 2.

Box Score - Amarillo 6- Odessa 1
