Krause Sends Jammers to Wild Walk-Off Victory

Jamestown Jammers News Release

JAMESTOWN, NY -Kevin Krause has shown that he has quite a bit of power this season. The 9 th round pick in this year's draft out of SUNY Stony Brook entered Saturday night's game against the Batavia Muckdogs as the team leader in home runs (6), and RBIs (26). Krause's power was again on full display Saturday night, as he connected for his seventh home run of the season in bottom of the 10 th inning to send the Jamestown Jammers to a thrilling 4-2 extra-inning victory over the Muckdogs.

Entering the bottom of the tenth tied 2-2, left fielder Carl Anderson would start the inning with a walk against Batavia reliever Josh Hodges. However, designated hitter Taylor Gushue would then bunt into a double play to seemingly squash the Jammers rally. But, right fielder Michael Suchy would line a single to right field, and that would set the stage for Mr. Krause, and his heroics. Krause would get the green light on a 3-0 count, and crush one deep over the left-center field wall at Diethrick Park to give the Jammers a much needed victory.

The Jammers would jump out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Center fielder Elvis Escobar would start the inning with a single through the hole at second base. Anderson would then reach base on a bunt single, but advance all the way to third on a throwing error by Batavia starting pitcher Jorgan Cavanerio, which would also allow Escobar to score all the way from first base to put the Jammers up 1-0. Gushue would then ground out, and Anderson would cross the plate to increase Jamestown's lead to 2-0.

The Muckdogs would get a run back in the top of the top of the second, on a long home run almost over the light tower in left-center field by left fielder Kevin Grove.

2-1 would remain the score until the top of the eighth, when Batavia would tie the game on an RBI single by designated hitter Wildert Pujols.

Neither team would push across another run until the bottom of the tenth, where Krause, and the Jammers would pull out the victory.

Escobar, Gushue, and Krause picked up two hits apiece to lead the Jammers 10 hit attack.

Jamestown starter Frank Duncan threw extremely well. In six innings of work, he would only surrender two hits, and one run, while striking out six Muckdogs. He would be relieved by Jerry Mulderig in the top of the seventh. Mulderig would throw three innings, and give up five hits, but only surrendered one run. Luis Urena would pitch a scoreless top of the tenth inning for the Jammers.

Jamestown now hits the road for a three game series against the Auburn Doubledays (Sunday-Tuesday). After that, the team will return home for a six-game homestand, with three games against the Hudson Valley Renegades (Wednesday-Friday), and the Lowell Spinners (Sunday-Monday).
