
Kowalski Returns to Gwinnett

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Craig Kowalski has been re-assigned to Gwinnett for the 2008-09 season. In addition, the Gladiators have added Jake Anderson to their training camp roster and have released forward Carl Bresser.
Kowalski comes back to Gwinnett after being returned to the Gladiators from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. Kowalski attended training camp with Norfolk.
The Clinton Township, Michigan, native returns to the Gladiators for the 2008-09 season where he shared first in the ECHL in wins during the 2007-08 season with 29 while posting a 2.33 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. He also appeared in four AHL games with Syracuse posting a shutout while recording a 2-1-0 record.
Kowalski represented the Gladiators in the 2008 ECHL All-Star game in Stockton, California. He made 13 saves as he was selected as a starter for the American Conference in the contest.
The 5-foot-8, 190-pound netminder began his professional career during the 2004-05 season with the Florida Everblades and split time during the 2005-06 season with the Everblades and the Lowell Lock Monsters. He played in a career high 46 games with Florida during the 2006-07 season.
Anderson joins the Gladiators after being released from training camp by the Chicago Wolves. Anderson is the son of Atlanta Thrashers head coach John Anderson.
The Toronto, Ontario native last played for the Brampton Capitals of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League during the 2005-06 season.
In addition, the Gladiators released forward Carl Bresser from training camp. Signed on July 18th, Bresser completed his senior season at Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin last year.
Training camp continues on Thursday at the Ice Forum in Duluth at 12:10 p.m. as the Gladiators prepare for the regular season which opens on Saturday, October 18th at the Arena at Gwinnett Center as they host the Mississippi Sea Wolves at 7:05 p.m.
Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 23 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Eighteen of the 23 teams have played at least five years in their current city.
The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
