Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - Prior to the Sugar Land Skeeters' game Monday against the Albuquerque Isotopes, catcher Korey Lee was promoted to the Skeeters from Double A Corpus Christi and infielder Pedro León was assigned to the Skeeters following a rehab assignment with the Houston Astros' Florida Complex League team.
Lee is rated as the Astros' No. 1 prospect, per MLB.com, and León is rated as the team's No. 2 overall prospect.
With Lee and León on the Skeeters' roster, they now have the Astros' top four prospects, per MLB.com, joining right-hander Hunter Brown (No. 3) and infielder Jeremy Peña (No. 4). The Skeeters continue their six-game series against Albuquerque at 7:05 p.m. on Monday at Constellation Field.
Lee, who was selected by the Astros in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft from the University of California, Berkeley, has spent time this season with both Corpus Christi and High A Asheville. He's hit a combined .282 (83x294) with 11 home runs, 41 RBIs and a .798 OPS. He was named the Double A Central Offensive Player of the Week on June 27.
León rejoins the Skeeters after sustaining a fractured left pinky finger while with the Skeeters on July 25. He appeared in five games with the Skeeters prior to the injury, going 5-for-20 (.250) with two doubles and two stolen bases. He's spent the bulk of the season with Corpus Christi, hitting .249 (46x185) with nine home runs, 33 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 52 games with the Hooks. The Astros signed León on Jan. 15 as a non drafted free agent from Cuba.
