South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that catcher Jae Yun Kim has been added to the active roster. Kim becomes the first Korean born player to play for the South Bend franchise.

In a related move, catcher Errol Hollinger has been placed on the seven day disabled list with a left shoulder strain. Hollinger's DL stint is retroactive to Tuesday, May 11th.

Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1990 and signed with the Diamondbacks organization on November 5, 2008. He played in 33 games for the Missoula Osprey in 2009, batting .230 with three homers and 14 RBIs. Better known for his defense, Kim threw out 12 of 44 would-be base stealers last season, a 27% success rate.

Kim will not be arriving in time for Wednesday's 10:30 AM game, but should be in uniform and available on Thursday night when the Silver Hawks take on the West Michigan Whitecaps in Comstock Park, Michigan.

Hollinger becomes the second Silver Hawks catcher to land on the DL this season, joining Ryan Babineau who is still on the disabled list with a hip injury. Hollinger has had a great first month of the season, batting .310 with a homer and six RBIs.

The South Bend roster currently stands at 24 active players plus two on the disabled list. The Midwest League allows for 25 active players.

The Silver Hawks have a School Day at the Cove sponsored by Oscar Mayer and Martin's Super Markets on Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM. For more information about the Silver Hawks or to purchase tickets, please visit www.silverhawks.com.
