Fort Wayne, IN --- The UHL announced today that the Komets have earned a sweep of the league's weekly player honors. Komet goalie Kevin St. Pierre was named Goaltender of the Week and winger David-Alexandre Beauregard took the Sherwood Player of the Week award for the week ending Jan. 25, 2004.
It's the 3rd time this season St. Pierre has received the weekly goaltender honor. The veteran goalie also received the award for his performance during the periods of Nov. 17 to Nov. 23 and Jan. 5 to Jan. 11. St. Pierre was also named UHL Goaltender of the Month for November.
In 3 games played during the week, St. Pierre registered 2 shutouts while allowing 1 goal in 74 shots for a weekly goals-against average of 0.33 and a .986 save percentage. The Sherbrooke, Quebec native also set a new Komet goaltender record of the longest shutout minutes in a UHL season of 189:01 from games played Jan. 17 to Jan. 24.
St. Pierre, 28, leads UHL goaltenders with a 2.04 goals-against average and .923 save percentage in 29 games played for a 22-5-1 record and is riding an 8-game win streak. With his 2 shutouts St. Pierre has a total of 4 on the season so far.
Beauregard, 27, was named the Sherwood Player of the Week after posting 2 goals and 6 assists in 3 games for an 8-point week. Beauregard also registered a +7 on the plus/minus rating. He opened the week scoring a goal and adding an assist in the Komet's 2-0 win at Port Huron Wednesday. The winger then posted back-to-back multiple point games at Adirondack Friday and Saturday collecting 2 points (1g, 1a) in Friday's 7-0 win and dishing 4 assists in Saturday's 5-1 victory. Beauregard has a 4-game point streak (2g, 7a), a 4-game assist streak of 7 assists and a league season-high 11-game road point streak (11g, 10a, 21pts).
The Montreal, Quebec native leads the Komets with 22 goals and has dished 18 assists for a total of 40 points in 27 games to date. Beauregard is in his 7th pro season while appearing in his 2nd season with the defending Colonial Cup Champion Komets.
