TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The 11th of 21 meetings, the seventh of nine in Richmond and the first of three straight between the clubs. The âDogs are 7-3 vs. the IceHawks, 3-3 at home. Hugo Belanger has 15 points vs. the âDogs. J.J. Wrobel has 15 vs. the IceHawks. Two of Richmond's wins have come in shootouts. Richmond leads the Eastern Conference by two points over Flint. Adirondack is tied for fourth in the East with Elmira.
LAST ACTION: The âDogs squeezed past Elmira 2-1 here Saturday. Richmond allowed a season high 46 shots on goal but Maxime Gingras made 45 saves. David Brosseau's first period goal gave the âDogs a lead that stood up until midway through the third period when Eddy Lowe scored shorthanded. Jay Murphy scored 28 seconds later to put Richmond ahead to stay. Adirondack lost 5-1 to Ft. Wayne Saturday in Glens Falls. The Komets jumped out to a 4-0 first period lead. Bobby Stewart had a hat trick for the Komets. Corey Lucas scored the IceHawks goal.
'DOG BITES: Anthony DiPalma has been placed on the 7-Day IR. J.J. Wrobel returns to the lineup tonight after missing 10 games due to injury. The RiverDogs are unbeaten in their last seven games at home (5-0-2). Richmond has won three straight at home. The 'Dogs have lost four in a row on the road. Richmond concludes a stretch of 18 out of 21 games at home Wednesday. The 'Dogs and Adirondack meet three straight times this week. Olivier Filion's three game scoring streak ended Saturday. Maxime Gingras has started 11 straight games in net. The 'Dogs are 31 for their last 34 (91.1%) on the penalty kill and have gone seven straight games without allowing a five-on-four power play goal against. Richmond has been out-shot in three straight games by a total of 46 (just over 15 per game). The 'Dogs open a three game road trip Wednesday. J.F. Picard re-joined the lineup Friday after missing six games due to injury. The 'Dogs are 17-1-1 when scoring first and 12-1-3 in one goal games. Richmond has only 72 PIM in their last six games. Richmond was just 3-40 on the power play vs. Elmira before scoring the game-winning goal Saturday with a man advantage. The 45 shots allowed by the 'Dogs Saturday is a club season high. Maxime Gingras 44 saves in that game is also a season high. Kevin St. Jacques is tied for 19th in the UHL in scoring. Darren Wetherill is tied for second in the league in plus/minus at +19. J.J. Wrobel is tied for second in the league with five game-winning-goals. Maxime Gingras is tied for fourth in the league in goaltender wins and is tied for third in shutouts with three. Tyler Lawson, and Olivier Dannel are on IR. The âDogs still lead the UHL in PIM. The IceHawks Hugo Belanger is tied for third in the UHL in points and is second in assists. Frank Littlejohn is fifth in the league in PIM. The IceHawks are 0 for their last 11 on the power play.
