Komets sign veteran P.C. Drouin

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced today that they have added 3 more players to the pre-season roster including veteran skater P.C. (Pierre-Claude) Drouin.

Drouin, 30, is a veteran of 8 seasons and has played the last 6 years in Europe. Drouin started his career playing in the NCAA with Cornell University from 1992-1996. The center/left winger was signed as a free agent by the Boston Bruins Oct. 14, 1996 and appeared in 3 NHL games with the Bruins in 1996-97. During the 96-97 season Drouin skated 42 games with Boston's AHL affiliate Providence scoring 12 goals and 23 points. Last season the St. Lambert, Quebec native appeared in 57 games for Jokerit Helsinki (Finland) scoring 11 goals and 26 points.

Center Corey Lucas has also been added to the Komet roster. Lucas, 25, played last season in the UHL with Kalamazoo and Adirondack totaling 15 goals, 25 points in 56 games. Lucas will be entering his 3rd pro season. He served stints in Wichita (CHL), Knoxville (ACHL) and Macon (ACHL) during 2002-03. Last year Lucas skated 56 games in the UHL while skating for Kalamazoo (23gp, 7g, 10pts) and Adirondack (33gp, 8g, 15pts).

The Komets also announced today the addition of rookie Aaron Wilson to the roster. Wilson, 22, hails from Pickering, Ontario and is coming off 3 seasons at the University of Toronto (CIS).

Today's 3 additions bring the Komet roster to a total of 23 players including 12 forwards, 8 defensemen and 3 goaltenders.

Komet Camp 2004 begins Oct. 4.....the Komet's training camp for 2004 will start on Monday, Oct. 4 at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne and run for 2 weeks. The Komet camp will include 3 exhibition games. The Komets will host Missouri Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7:30pm. Friday, Oct. 8 the Komets will skate at the coliseum against Kalamazoo at 8pm and then travel to Kalamazoo to face the Wings at Wings Stadium Saturday, Oct. 9 at 6:30pm (Fort Wayne time). The Komet's 2004-05 regular season schedule starts on the road Friday, Oct. 15, at Elmira against the Jackals. The season begins with 4 games on the road before the Komets return to Fort Wayne for their home opener Saturday, Oct. 23, against the Flint Generals at 7:30pm.
