Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets completed week seven collecting four points in three games. The week began with the 47th annual Fort Wayne Thanksgiving game. The Komets improved their Thanksgiving record to 29-14-2-2 with a 5-4 win over Flint. The victory snapped a four-game Fort Wayne winless streak and marked head coach Al Sims' 500th win as a head coach.
Friday the Komets posted a 5-3 win at Port Huron to extend their undefeated (in regulation) streak to three games. Winger dominic Osman netted his second hat trick of the season, both against the Incehawks, while center Colin Chaulk registed four assists. It was Chaulk's sixth game of scoring three or more points in 13 games played.
Saturday the visiting Muskegon Lumberjacks spoiled a perfect week for the Komets taking a 3-1 win out of Fort Wayne. The Komets surrendered three goals in a period for the first time this season giving up three in the third. Nick Boucher sufferd his fourth regulation loss of the season in his fifth straight start and seventh straight appearance.
This weekend the Komets have two games on tap. Friday the Komets will skate at Flint at 7:30pm. The last-place Generals have lost five straight games and are 1-8-1 in their last 10. The Komets are 3-0-0 against Flint this season. Friday's match will be the fourth of 16 meetings this season. The Generals will host Kalamazoo Thursday before welcoming the Komets Friday.
Saturday the Komets skate their ninth home game of the season. Bloomington visits for a 7:30pm faceoff. The Komets turned back the Thunder 6-4 in their last meeting Nov. 8 in Fort Wayne to lead the season series 2-1-0. Bloomington enters the week in fifth place after winning their last two games played, including a 1-0 home victory to stop Kalamazoo's win streak at 8 games Saturday night. The PrairieThunder will host Port Huron Thursday before traveling to Fort Wayne Saturday.
Welcome back....the Komets welcomed back to the lineup Adam Lewis Thanksgiving night. Lewis, 30, was added to the Komet roster, ending a three-year retirement. Lewis skated three seasons with the Komets in 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05 before electing an early retirement. The Komets also welcomed goalie Tim Haun back to Fort Wayne. Haun, 28, was back in Fort Wayne prior to Saturday night's game against Muskegon to backup goaltender Nick Boucher. Haun has been added to the Komet roster to fill the void after an injury put netminder Sebastien Laplante on the injured reserve list. Haun was a member of the Komet's training camp appearing in two Fort Wayne preseason games (1-0-0). Haun started the season with Huntsville in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) and after 10 games was 8-2-0. The goaltender had won both his games Thursday and Friday before traveling to Fort Wayne Saturday.
Curadeau gets nod from Norfolk.....the Komet's leading goal scorer Mathieu Curadeau was called up by the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL Friday. The Admirals are the main affiliate of the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning. Curadeau skated in games Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Norfolk scoring a goal in the Admirals' 3-2 loss at Hershey Sunday night. Prior to Curadeau's call up, the center had 13 goals and 20 points in 14 Komet games.
