
PrairieThunder Players Earn Awards

Scott Fankhouser and Jon Booras of the Bloomington PrairieThunder took two of the three weekly honors handed out by the International Hockey League for their play last week, it was announced Monday.
Fankhouser earned the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week honor for the second time this season by stopping the top two teams in the league on back-to-back nights.
He helped the PrairieThunder hand Muskegon its first loss at home after seven straight wins in a 5-1 victory on Friday by stopping 26 of 27 shots. He stopped the final 20 shots he faced, including three power plays.
The next night Fankhouser posted only the second shutout in the franchise's three-year history by turning away all 31 shots fired at him, including eight power play attempts, by Kalamazoo in a 1-0 triumph.
Over the two-game stretch, Fankhouser posted a 0.50 goals against average by stopping 57 of 58 shots, including the last 52 he has faced, for a .983 save percentage. The two wins evened his season record at 6-6.
Booras was named the Pepsi Player of the Week for scoring two goals and adding three assists for five points to help the PrairieThunder earn four points in the standings. He also had a plus-2 rating and scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 decision over Kalamazoo, which snapped the Wings' eight-game winning streak.
The Billings (Mont.) native leads the PrairieThunder with 23 points which ranks sixth in the league, on 10 goals and 13 assists. He also has a plus-1 rating with two game-winning goals. He leads the league in power play goals with six.
The PrairieThunder, which has won two straight for a 7-9 record, returns to action Thursday with a 7:05 p.m. against Port Huron at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
