IHL Weekly Honors for Week Seven

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Bloomington forward Jon Booras has been named the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week, Kalamazoo right wing Rick Cleaver has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week, and Bloomington goaltender Scott Fankhouser has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 30th, 2008.

Booras recorded a total of five points and a plus-two in three games played, helping boost Bloomington to earn four out of six points this week. He scored the game-winning lone goal Saturday in the PrairieThunder's 1-0 win over Kalamazoo. Booras played four straight nights over Thanksgiving weekend after earning a call-up to Peoria of the AHL for their Wednesday game. The 25-year-old Billings, Montana native leads the IHL in power play goals scored with six and is currently tied for sixth in the IHL in scoring with 23 points (10g, 13a).

Other players nominated for the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week include: Flint forward Steve Rymsha, Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk, Kalamazoo right wing Mark Nebus, Muskegon center Todd Robinson and Port Huron left wing Tab Lardner.

Cleaver wrapped up week seven of IHL action notching in two goals and one assists for a total of three points in 11 games played. He completed the week with a plus-three rating giving him a total of plus-12 for the season, which ranks him second overall in the IHL. The 25-year-old Port McNeill, British Columbia native currently is ranked fifth among IHL rookies in scoring (3g, 8a) and leads all rookies in power play assists with three.

Other players nominated for the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington left wing Adam Tomkow, Flint defenseman Kyle Deck, Fort Wayne center Rick Varone, Muskegon right wing Alec Kirschner and Port Huron defenseman Derek Merlini.

Fankhouser posted a 2-0-0-0 record during week seven, only allowing one goal against for a 0.50 goals against average in two games played. He recorded the PrairieThunder's second shutout of their three-year history Saturday, making a total of 31 saves in the 1-0 victory over Kalamazoo. The 33-year-old Bismarck, North Dakota native had a .983 save percentage for the week, increasing his season total to .867.

Other players nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Flint's Matt Spezza, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Kalamazoo's Jason Tapp, Muskegon's Isaac Reichmuth and Port Huron's Larry Sterling.
