Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN | Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 --- The Komets (5-13-1) travel to Quad City (11-11-0) and skate the fifth of a five-game road swing when they face the Mallards at the i wireless Center Friday night at 8:05pm ET. It will be the fifth of 10 meetings this season. The series is tied at 2-2-0. The Komets and Mallards have both been idle this week after Quad City's 6-3 home win against the Komets last Sunday.
The Komets return home Saturday to face the Dayton Gems (11-9-1) at 7:30pm. It will begin a stretch of five out of six Fort Wayne games at home thru New Year's Eve. Fort Wayne is 0-3-0 against the Gems after the first three games of a 14-game season series. Dayton will visit Bloomington Friday before traveling to Fort Wayne Saturday.
The Komets will be home to celebrate the holidays for five games through New Year's Eve. After Saturday's home tilt against the Gems, the Komets will host Dayton Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 7:30pm before a three-day break for Christmas. The Komets will host Dayton Monday, Dec. 27 at 7:30pm and then welcome the Mississippi RiverKings Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 7:30pm.
New Year's Eve the Komets face Quad City at 8pm for the traditional Fort Wayne game. The Komets have an eight-game winning streak on New Year's Eve and are 36-13-4 (.717) all-time after 53 New Year's Eve home games. The tradition started in 1955 with a 3-2 win over the Troy Bruins.
Komets player moves -- The Komets announced today that left winger Brandon Naurato has been placed on waivers. Also, defenseman Craig Cescon has been placed on 10-day injured reserve while defenseman Danko Mironovic and forward Derek Patrosso will be activated Friday and are expected to be back in action when the Komets face the Mallards at Quad City Friday night.
