Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets completed week four of 2011-12 splitting a pair of games at Rapid City Friday and Saturday nights.
The short two-game series at the Rushmoore Plaza Civic Center Arena in South Dakota began with a 5-2 Rush win Friday night. The Komets rebounded with a 7-2 victory Saturday. Earlier in the week the Komets crushed the Gems at Dayton Tuesday night 8-2. For the week the Komets offense outscored the opposition 17-9 while dominating in the shots department 109-68.
The Komets enter week five of the CHL campaign at 4-4-0 for eight points and fourth place in the Turner Conference, seven points behind first-place Missouri with two games in hand.
Komets of the week -- Bobby Chaumont scored a goal and added six assists in the three games played for a seven-point week....Jamie Milam (3g, 2a), Brett Smith (1g, 4a) and Colin Chaulk (2g, 3a) each posted three-point weeks.....Artem Podshendyalov (2g, 2a), Chris Auger (2g, 2a) and Frankie DeAngelis each registered four points for the week. Five players contributed points in each of the three games including Milam, Smith, Chaumont, Auger and DeAngelis.....Goaltender Nick Boucher appeared in all three games (2-0-0) stopping 47 of 52 shots for a 2.15 goals-against average and .904 save percentage. Boucher has won his last two starts and has appeared in four straight games.
Streaking Komets -- center Brett Smith has scored points in each Komet game played except opening night for a seven-game point streak (4g, 6a).....defenseman Frankie DeAngelis is riding a four-game point streak (3g, 2a) and has points in six of eight games played.....three-game point streaks for forward Chris Auger (2g, 2a) and defenseman Jamie Milam (3g, 2a).
Special K's -- The Komets scored five power play goals on 15 chances for a 33.3% rating for the week and move up to the third-best power play in the CHL at 25.7% (9/35).
GAMES THIS WEEK
Komets start week on the road at Ford Center in Evansville -- The Komets begin a stretch of three games in three nights this week when they visit Evansville Thursday for an 8:15pm ET start. It will be the second of seven trips to Evansville this year. The Komets dropped a 5-2 decision to the IceMen Nov. 5 when the two teams met for the second time this season for the IceMen's home opener at the new Ford Center. Evansville handed the Komets a 5-0 setback for Fort Wayne's home opener Oct. 22. The red hot IceMen are riding a five-game winning streak and are unbeaten in regulation yet this season in seven games (6-0-1) after taking three straight wins over Dayton last week.
Gems visit Friday - The Dayton Gems visit for an 8pm faceoff Friday. It's the second of 14 meetings this season and the first of seven Dayton visits to Fort Wayne. In the first meeting of the season the Komets upended the Gems 8-2 last Tuesday at Hara Arena in Dayton. The Gems are coming off three straight losses to Evansville last week and are winless in their last four games (0-3-1). Dayton hosts Bloomington Thursday before traveling to Fort Wayne Friday.
Friday night Marathon Nights -- Continuing this year, Friday nights are Marathon Nights at Komet home games. Fans can take advantage of buy-one-get-one-free ticket offers for any Friday night home game. Fill Up Cards are available at all participating Marathon stations.
Komets host Mallards Saturday -- The Komets will host the Quad City Mallards Saturday at 7:30pm at the Memorial Coliseum to complete the weekend home double-header. It's the second meeting of nine this year and the second of four Quad City visits to Fort Wayne. Quad City clipped the Komets 3-2 in their first visit of the season Nov. 6. The Mallards enter the week on a two-game loosing streak after dropping games at Wichita and at Tulsa last Friday and Saturday nights. Quad City is 1-4-0 in their last five outings. The Mallards host Bloomington Tuesday and Friday before making the trip to Fort Wayne Saturday.
Blaze visit for Thanksgiving -- The Komets will host their 50th straight home Thanksgiving night game on Nov. 24 at 7:30pm when the Bloomington Blaze come to town. The traditional affair always draws a huge crowd so fans are encouraged to get their tickets early.

INC Soundoff with the Komets Monday nights -- The Komets, along with Indiana's News Center and title sponsor PHP, present a live weekly televised sports program on Monday nights at 7:30 on WPTA TV 21 Alive. The show is televised live from Wrigley Field Bar and Grill each week throughout the 2011-12 season with INC's Tommy Schoegler as host. Komet players and personnel will serve as co-hosts during the half-hour program. The show will also feature highlights, interviews, call-ins and special segments. Tonight, Nov. 14, forwards Jesse Bennefield and Chris Auger will be special guests.
60th Anniversary Komet Hockey on WOWO -- The Komets and WOWO Radio News-Talk 1190 AM have partnered once again for 2011-12. Broadcaster Bob Chase will call the action for his 59th consecutive season radio-rinkside. All games broadcast on radio, home and away, can be heard online at Xfinity KometCast. Most games will be broadcast on WOWO Radio News-Talk 1190 AM with ESPN Radio AM 1380 as an alternative when scheduling conflicts occur.
