Bicek Named CHL Player of the Week
November 14, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN.--- Rising meteorically as the most torrid team in the Central Hockey League at this hour of the 2011-12 league season, the undefeated Evansville IceMen 7(6-0-1) and riding the crest of a 5-game win streak, continue to capture the attention and imagination of the pro hockey world in general and the 20-year-old AA circuit in particular.
On this date, the IceMen, in concert with the Central Hockey League, have announced that high-flying left wing BRIAN BICEK has been named the OAKLEY / CHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK for the week of November 7th through November 13th. It marks the second consecutive week that the IceMen have been the recipients of such lofty league laurels. Last week, center Todd Robinson was so honored by the CHL
BICEK, 25, enjoying his fourth pro season, his second in Evansville, helped spearhead his club's crucial early season 3-games in 3-days sweep of Turner Conference rival Dayton the past weekend as the IceMen swelled their win streak to 5-in a row which is the longest currently extant in the league and the second longest attained circuit-wide thus far this season.
For the week, the American-bred from Downers Grove, IL by way of Western Michigan U., percolated a proficient and prolific 5-points in those 3-games on 3-goals, 2-assists with 13-SOG and superb +4 rating. In game one of said series the past Friday night, "Ice-Bice-Baby" had lightning coming out of his skates, exploding to the tune of 2-SHG breakaway goals in a compact :17 in the first period to spark his team to a 3-2 triumph at Hara Arena. His first goal was the GTG while his second strike represented the TBG. The diminutive, dynamic forward was heralded as the game's #1 Star. Earning one assist and 5-more SOG in Saturday night's dramatic, gigantic 3-2 OT triumph of the Gems, Bicek returned home with his team Sunday to register the ultimate GWG on yet another breakaway and added 1-assist and 3-SOG in the IceMen 5-2 domination of the Daytonites at their new home of the Ford Center. He culminated his week's work with a masterful +3 performance.
For the season, "The Pocket-Rocket" ranks tied for third in team scoring production with 7-points in 7-games including his team-high 5-goals. His 3-SHG top the CHL and his 30-SOG top the IceMen. Bicek's +5 rating also ties him for the best on the club.
In 2010-11, the 5-8, 170lb jet-streaming sparkplug was named the IceMen Team MVP with his 27-goals being foremost on the club.
