Fort Wayne, IN -- After a scoreless tie in regulation the Komets fell to the visiting Quad City Mallards in overtime 1-0 Sunday at the Memorial Coliseum. Eleven seconds into the extra frame Quad City's Joel Gasper blistered the first shot of the period past Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher for the win. The Komets outshot the Mallards 28-22 and were 0/3 on the power play while the Mallards were 0/4 with the man advantage.

Quad City's David Brown earned first star honors with his third shutout of the season on 28 saves while Boucher suffered his third overtime loss of the year stopping all 21 Mallards shots in regulation and is unbeaten in regulation seven straight appearances.

The Komets, 10-16-4 after 30 games, have earned points in eight of their last nine games. The Mallards improved to 19-15-0 and 38 points with their sixth win in eight games and pull to within two points of Turner Conference leader Rapid City.

This week the Komets will be represented by defenseman Frankie DeAngelis at the CHL All-Star Game on Wednesday in Rapid City. The K's will return to action this Friday when the Evansville IceMen visit for an 8pm E.T. faceoff. Saturday the Komets skate at Bloomington at 8:05pm E.T. and Sunday the Komets are home to host the Mississippi RiverKings at 5pm E.T.
