
Gasper, Mallards Defeat Fort Wayne 1-0 in Overtime

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (January 9, 2011) - Joel Gasper scored 11 seconds into sudden death overtime and David Brown made 28 saves on the way to his third shutout of the season as the Quad City Mallards dramatically defeated the host Fort Wayne Komets 1-0 Sunday.
After regulation failed to produce a single goal Gasper blasted the twenty-second Mallard shot of the afternoon past Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher from the high slot to end the contest mere moments into the extra period.
The win- the Mallards' fifth in a row on the road- lifted Quad City to a season best four games above .500 (19-15-0) heading into the Central Hockey League All-Star break.
The Mallards return to action at home Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Rapid City Rush. The first 1,000 fans ages 13 and over through the doors of the i wireless Center for that game will receive free Mallards caps courtesy of WLLR.
Tickets for Friday's game- and all Mallards regular season home games- are available in person at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days other than Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the end of the first period. On Sundays on which the Mallards play at home the ticket office is open from 1:00 p.m. until the end of the first period.
