Komets Announce Opening Night Roster

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced their official 2013-14 opening night roster Thursday. ECHL teams can carry a maximum of 20 players on the active roster, no more than 18 of whom may be skaters, at any one time. For the first 30 days of the regular season, teams can carry a maximum of 21 players on the active roster, no more than 19 of whom may be skaters, at any one time.

Teams are permitted to carry up to two players at a time on the Reserve List, while an unlimited number of players can be placed on the 21-day Injured Reserve.

The Fort Wayne roster of 20 players includes 11 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders:

Forwards

Scott Fleming, Brandon Marino, Mickey Lang, John Dunbar, Bobby Hughes, Jake Hauswirth, Matt Firman, Chris Auger, Kaleigh Schrock and Tristan King.

Defensemen

Simon Danis-Pepin, Nik Pokulok, Joe Hartman, Rob Kwiet, Jeremy Gates and Nick Tuzzolino.

Goaltenders

Cody Reichard and John Muse.

Walleye visit for season opener-- The Komets will open the 2013-14 campaign hosting North Division rival Toledo Saturday night at the Memorial Coliseum. The Komets were 4-7-0 against Toledo in 11 meetings last season. Saturday night's opener will be the first of six visits to Fort Wayne by the Walleye this season and the first of nine meetings total. It's also the only game of the season opening weekend for both clubs.

The last time the Komets opened at home against a Toledo team was in 1976 when the Komets defeated the Toledo Goaldiggers 5-2. The old time rivals have met a total of 379 times since their first meeting in 1952 while members of the International Hockey League. The Komets are 195-155-29 all-time against Toledo.

Grab your seat early-- Over 10,000 fans have witnessed each Komet home opener the past 11 seasons. Many festivities are planned prior to opening faceoff Saturday night. Ceremonies get underway at 7:30pm with the traditional introductions of Komet Legends. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the festivities. Still plenty of great seats are available.
