Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (10/17/13) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced the Season-Opening roster for the Idaho Steelheads on Thursday, a list that consists of 19 skaters and one goaltender.
The Steelheads open the regular season Friday night on the road in West Valley City, UT, against the Utah Grizzlies.
The roster, as approved by the ECHL:
Goaltenders (1): Pat Nagle
Defensemen (8): Hubert Labrie, Connor Goggin, Etienne Boutet, Ryan Button, Tyler Elbrecht, Patrick Cullity, James Isaacs, Dalton Reum
Forwards (11): Taylor Vause, Mitch Wahl, Tommy Grant, William Rapuzzi, Justin Mercier, Anthony Nigro, Tyler Gron, Brett Robinson, Jeremy Yablonski, David deKastrozza, Gaelan Patterson
Reum and Yablonski open the season on the team's Reserve List.
Of the twenty on the list, six skated with the team last season: Labrie, Cullity, Isaacs, Gron, Robinson and deKastrozza. A seventh, Jeremy Yablonski, has also played for Idaho before, last skating in a Steelheads jersey during the '06-'07 season.
Meanwhile, 13 of the twenty have American Hockey League experience, the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America: Nagle, Labrie, Goggin, Button, Cullity, Vause, Wahl, Grant, Mercier, Nigro, Yablonski, deKastrozza and Patterson. Yablonski and Mercier have combined to appear in ten NHL games as well.
Four players - Boutet, Elbretch, Reum and Rapuzzi - are first-year rookies and two players - Yablonski and Mercier - meet the league standard for "veteran" status. Five players are currently with Idaho on assignment from the NHL's Dallas Stars or AHL's Texas Stars: Nagle, Vause, Boutet, Labrie and Button. Cullity is with Idaho on assignment from St. John's of the AHL.
The 17th season of professional hockey gets underway at CenturyLink Arena on October 23 when the Idaho Steelheads host the San Francisco Bulls. Season Ticket packages are available now, starting at just $275 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season packages are available as well for fans who want a little more flexibility.
