Fort Wayne, IN — The Komets and the United Hockey League announced today that Fort Wayne goalie Tyler Masters has been honored with the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week Award for week ending Dec. 12, 2004.

Masters, 25, registered a 3-0-1 performance for the week in 4 games played, posted a 1.75 goals against average making 95 saves on 102 shots for a .931 save percentage and moved to the top of the UHL's netminder pack with an overall average of 1.90 goals against in 9 appearances to date. Masters also recorded his 2nd shutout in as many weeks blanking the visiting Motor City Mechanics Friday night 3-0 with 13 saves. The rookie goalie concluded the week with a 5-3 win against the visiting Elmira Jackals Sunday stopping 32 of 35 shots to gain his 3rd win of the week and 6th of the season.

The Regina, Saskatchewan native skated 4 seasons with Bowling Green of the NCAA from 1999-2003. This season is Masters' 2nd as a pro after appearing in 26 games last year with Cincinnati of the ECHL.
