Danbury's Jeff Daw and Fort Wayne' Tyler Masters earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Tuesday that Danbury forward Jeff Daw has been named Sher-Wood Player of the Week and Fort Wayne goaltender Tyler Masters has been named Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 12, 2004.

Daw completed the week with eight points (4g, 4a) and a plus-one rating in four games. On Wednesday, he notched a goal early in the first period. After an assist on the power play in the third, with almost a minute remaining, he scored his second goal of the night in a 5-2 win over the River Dogs. On Friday, he scored two power play goals in the third period of the Trashers 4-3 loss to Flint. On Saturday, Daw notched an assist on the power play against Kalamazoo, and earned two assists in the second period against Motor City on Sunday. The 32-year-old Carlisle, Ontario native has six goals, seven assists and thirteen points in twelve games played this season.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack center Sylvain Cloutier, Elmira left wing Darren Van Oene, Flint right wing Jim Duhart, Fort Wayne left wing Sean Venedam, Kalamazoo left wing Kevin Kotyluk, Kansas City defenseman Vaclav Zavoral, Missouri defenseman Bob Rapoza, Motor City forward David Bonk, Muskegon center Jeff Nelson, Port Huron left wing David Beauregard, Quad City forward Mike Kompon, Richmond center Mark Turner, and Rockford center Olivier Proulx.

Masters finished the week with a 3-0-1 record, 1.75 GAA, and a .931 save percentage. On Tuesday, Masters stopped twenty-six shots for the 6-1 win over the Outlaws. Posting his second shutout of the season and of his professional career, Masters stopped all thirteen attempts by Motor City on Friday. On Sunday, in his fourth consecutive start, Masters earned his sixth win of the season stopping 32 of 35 shots. Unbeaten in regulation for five straight games, Masters has moved to the top of UHL goaltenders with a 1.90 goals against average, a 6-2-1 record, and the fourth best save percentage in the league (.928). The 25-year-old Calgary, Alberta native has helped lead the Komets to first place in the Western Division with a 18-7-2 record.
