
Koko Scores Shootout Winner As Spits Top Hounds

(Sault Ste Marie, ON) Alexander Khokhlachev scored the only goal in a shootout, as the Spitfires edged the Greyhounds 3-2 on Friday night in front of 4,639 at the Essar Centre.
Remy Giftopoulos (18) and Ben Johnson (13) scored in regulation for Windsor (20-20-1-6), which remained four points back of Saginaw for eighth place in the Western Conference.
Brandon Alderson and Jared McCann had the goals for Sault Ste Marie (25-19-2-2), which lost for the first time in nine games at home.
Giftopoulos got the Spitfires off to a quick start, beating Matt Murray (25 saves) with a backhander just 58 seconds into the game.
Johnson made it 2-1 at the 7:50 mark of the second period, taking a feed from Josh Ho-Sang and fighting off a Greyhounds defender before sliding one home.
McCann's goal at 3:07 of the third rounded out the scoring in regulation.
Jaroslav Pavelka was outstanding in goal, making 32 saves for his 19th win of the season.
