Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pa. - A sellout crowd of 4,548 watched the Erie Otters lose their first game in regulation at home since December 8 as the Kitchener Rangers left town with a 4-1 victory Saturday night.
Brent Pedersen and Josh Sterk scored in the first period to give the Rangers a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes of play.
Josh Leivo scored the only goal of the second period for the Rangers to give the visitors a 3-0 lead with 7:03 left in the frame.
The Otters finally got on the board with 2:04 remaining when Jimmy McDowell blasted a shot from the left circle for his 12th goal of the season, ensuring that the Otters would not be shutout for the first time this season.
Just 39 seconds after McDowell's power play tally, Tobias Rieder put the game away with an empty net goal to make it 4-1. Devin Williams made 48 saves for the Otters in the loss, as he kept the Otters in the game throughout.
The Otters return to Erie Insurance Arena Friday night as they host the Niagara IceDogs at 7:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans receive an Oscar Dansk poster courtesy of Erie Sports Store and a autograph session with Oscar follows the game. For tickets, call 814-452-4857 or go to OttersHockey.com
