Washington Mystics News Release
Washington, D.C.- Washington Mystics General Manager Linda Hargrove announced today that Guard Laurie Koehn has re-signed with the team. Per company policy, terms of the contract will not be released.
"We are happy to have Laurie back with the Mystics as she has demonstrated in the last three seasons that she is one of the best shooters in the league," said Hargrove. "Her work ethic is unparalleled and she continues to work hard to improve her overall game."
Koehn signed with the team as free agent in 2005 and was the league's best three point shooter with a 47% field goal percentage. She surpassed her percentage in 2006, shooting 52% from the three point line. Koehn took part in the 2007 WNBA All-Star Three-Point Shootout competition. Koehn's record setting performance of 25 points in the final round matched the NBA record of points in a single round set by Craig Hodges in 1986.
"I'm very happy to be back with the Mystics. It has been a privilege to be a part of this great organization, and I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to be here for another season," said Koehn,
The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2008 season on Saturday, May 17th, on the road against the Indiana Fever. Washington will host the club's home opener on Sunday, May 25th, against the four-time WNBA Champion, Houston Comets at 4:00 p.m. Individual tickets are currently on sale for a limited time on www.ticketmaster.com.
