SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Todd Hosmer notched his 12th goal of the season, but the Mississippi RiverKings (9-4-1) fell 3-1 to the Knoxville Ice Bears (6-5-2) on home ice Saturday night.

The RiverKings struck first in the middle of the opening frame. Todd Hosmer beat Bryan Hince through the legs to put the home team ahead 1-0 10:13 into the first period.

But Knoxville took control from there. Phil Bonner hammered home a loose puck in front of Dan McWhinney to tie the game at one for the Ice Bears at the 15:25 mark. Just over a minute later, Francis Drolet's pass deflected off the skate of Eric Satim and past McWhinney to give the visitors a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

After a scoreless start to the second, Jon Higgins' wrist shot trickled through the body of McWhinney to put Knoxville ahead 3-1 with just over four minutes remaining in the second. The RiverKings could not muster any offense in the third as they fell for just the fourth time this season, 3-1.

Dan McWhinney (4-4-0) took the loss after stopping 27 of 30 shots against. Bryan Hince (6-3-2) picked up the win after turning aside 35 of 36 shots against.

The RiverKings return home on Saturday, December 7 as they take on the Bloomington Thunder for the Teddy Bear Toss sponsored by 95.3 the Rebel and Military Night sponsored by Belhaven University. Be sure to bring a new teddy bear to the game and throw it on the ice when the RiverKings score their first goal to benefit Toys for Tots.
